This Market Notice covers changes to the Bank’s collateral eligibility framework for the Sterling Monetary Framework (SMF).
The Producer Price Index for final demand rose 1.1 percent in May. Prices for final demand goods increased 2.8 percent, and the index for final demand services moved up 0.3 percent. Prices for final demand advanced 6.5 percent for the 12 months ended in May.
The Bank of Canada today held its target for the overnight rate at 2.25%, with the Bank Rate at 2.5% and the deposit rate at 2.20%.
In May, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers rose 0.5 percent, seasonally adjusted, and rose 4.2 percent over the last 12 months, not seasonally adjusted. The index for all items less food and energy increased 0.2 percent in May (SA); up 2.9 percent over the year (NSA).

Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 172,000 in May, and the unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.3 percent. Job gains occurred in leisure and hospitality, local government, and health care. Employment in financial activities declined.
