The Producer Price Index for final demand increased 0.2 percent in November. Prices for final demand goods advanced 0.9 percent, and the index for final demand services was unchanged. On an unadjusted basis, prices for final demand rose 3.0 percent for the 12 months ended in November.

Both total nonfarm payroll employment (+50,000) and the unemployment rate (4.4 percent) changed little in December. Employment continued to trend up in food services and drinking places, health care, and social assistance. Retail trade lost jobs.

Both total nonfarm payroll employment (+22,000) and the unemployment rate (4.3 percent) changed little in August. A job gain in health care was partially offset by losses in federal government and in mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction.
